This course gives participants a working knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style and covers many aspects of what it means to be a copy editor, including covering the editorial process and addressing topics such as spelling, punctuation, usage, foreign titles, tables and graphs, and more.

- Sketch out how and where proofreading and copyediting fit within the publishing process.
- Identify errors and mark up manuscripts using industry editing marks or software.
- Identify effective strategies for approaching copy editing projects, querying authors, and applying Chicago style.
- Navigate the Chicago Manual of Style, 18th edition, including its online tools, to find the requisite editorial guidance.
