Introduction to Acquisition Editing

Acquisitions editors collaborate with others both inside and outside the publishing house—from colleagues who focus on editing, design, and production as well as those who handle sales, marketing, and publicity. In addition, acquisitions editors collaborate with, of course, authors and agents. This course provides an inside look into the skills and expertise acquisitions editors are expected to have, all the aspects of publishing they might come into contact within a day, and how they decide about which projects to pursue.

  • Compare and contrast types of book publishers and their brands
