This course covers the fundamental aspects of modern project management, both managerial and technical. Additionally, it gives the students direct experience in the use of appropriate tools and techniques to successfully execute a project. By the end of this program students will have a mastery of the basic theory and practice of project management. Included will be exposure to many of the “soft skills” inherent in successful project execution, such as communication, stakeholder management, interpersonal relationships and problem-solving.
Skills / Knowledge
- Describe the PMI Framework, assess its strengths & limitations to specific organizations, projects or sets of projects.
- Develop a project management plan focusing on key elements such as a project charter, WBS, Gantt chart & S-Curve.
- Identify constraints, factors and challenges that influence project outcomes in an organization. Assess the likely impact of those constraints on the project outcomes.
- Develop a road map – incorporating hard and soft skills - to improve project outcomes.
- Make data-enabled, ethical recommendations to improve organizational practice of project management.
